Coding with Clarissa

A rookie's journey into web development

HTML

Oh look, a header!

HTML was the introduction, and literally the foundation of everything I learned about web development. It was the first step in learning how to build a website. I thought it was exciting to learn how to structure a webpage using headings, paragraphs, links, and images! I loved learning about how to use different tags to create different elements on a webpage, and seeing the code come together on screen was rewarding. HTML is one of my favorite things I learned about in this course, because it was so easy to understand. Although I've never been good at math, I feel like coding is similiar to statistics and logic, as a lot of the language relates, and understanding a little bit of each helps me understand that coding has specific rules and functions.

Oh wow, a smaller header!

Fun fact: the first time I ever learned about HTML, was on complete accident. In middle school, it was cool to have a custom Myspace page, without all the images and logos that were added by the creators of the page. One day, when I unknowingly copied my HTML code into a wep page editor, I finally read all the mumbo jumbo and what I understood was making changes to the code changed the way my page looked. I was so fascinated by this, and it sparked my interest in learning more about coding and web development... and I had the coolest Myspace page in 7th grade.
